These exercises provide hands-on experience with bug/issue trackers. The term "issue tracker" is used to include a wider range of project concerns beyond just bugs; such as quality improvements, new feature requests, and any other objectives that developers and maintainers wish to track.
6.5.1. Exercise - CS390X Issue Tracker (Redmine)
The Sequence Generator project uses Redmine for
issue tracking (which encompasses tracking of bug reports, quality improvements, feature requests, etc.) as well as other project management tasks.
You should have received (or will receive) an invitation via email from the CS390X Redmine server with instructions to activate your user account. Once you've logged in to the server, your instructor will then add your user account as a member of the Sequence Generator project.
As with any project website, if's a good idea to first peruse the Wiki for an overview.
Then visit the Issues tab of the project.
What kinds of issues appear in the list?
Explore ways to choose which issues are shown (Filters) and what information
is presented about the issues themselves (Options).
6.5.2. Exercise - Create Your Own FOSS Bug Tracker Account
Figure out how to create a new account on the bug tracker of your chosen FOSS project. (You'll need to use that account very soon.)
